“My favorite part of every Stir Fry is towards the end, as things are simmering or cooking, when you step back from the stove and chat with everyone on video.”
“Stir Fry stands out as the most fun virtual hangout I’ve done. It feels different from other virtual calls — it’s the closest to being in the same kitchen with your friends.”
“We had such great conversation as we Stir Fried, the highest quality conversation we’ve had in quarantine!”

Stir Fry was born from our frustration that, despite being more connected than ever, we still feel disconnected. Stir Fry is a new social platform that brings together technology and cooking to foster authentic, intimate moments between friends, family, colleagues, and peers.
The name Stir Fry evokes the kinetic energy of our virtual kitchens. Like the friends that come together on our platform, in a stir fry, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Stir frying is a Chinese cooking technique that dates back to the Han Dynasty in the 3rd century B.C. Its English name was coined by linguist Y.R. Chao in his wife’s 1945 cookbook, How to Cook and Eat in Chinese. While until the 20th century stir frying was reserved for restaurants and affluent families who could afford oil and fuel, today it’s an accessible weeknight staple for many Western households with limited time and ingredients.
